Privacy Policy — Storybook Crochet

Draft. This is placeholder wording written for the mockup. Before launch it needs a real read-through — especially the payment, shipping and children's-privacy sections, and a decision on whether the shop ships outside the US (which pulls in GDPR).

Who we are

Storybook Crochet is a small handmade business run by one person. If you have a question about anything on this page, email hello@storybookcrochet.com and you'll be talking to the person who made your animal.

What we collect

When you buy something: your name, email address, shipping address, and what you ordered. We need these to send you the thing you bought.
Your card details: we never see them. Payment is handled entirely by Stripe, which collects the card on its own hosted page. We receive only a confirmation that the payment succeeded, plus the last four digits and card brand.
When you send a custom-order request: your name, email, and whatever you write in the message.
Basic site data: our host keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and troubleshooting.

We do not run advertising trackers, and we do not sell or rent your information to anyone. Ever.

Cookies

The shop stores your basket in your own browser so it survives moving between pages. That's stored locally on your device, not on our servers. Stripe sets its own cookies during checkout for fraud prevention — those are governed by Stripe's privacy policy, not this one.

Who we share it with

Stripe — to take payment.
Our email provider — to send you an order confirmation.
Google Firebase — which hosts the site and stores order records.
The postal carrier — your shipping address, so the parcel arrives.

That's the whole list. Nobody else gets your information unless the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Order records are kept for as long as needed for tax and bookkeeping purposes. Custom-order emails are kept until the conversation is finished, then deleted. You can ask for your information to be deleted at any time — see below.

Your choices

Email hello@storybookcrochet.com and you can ask to see what we hold about you, correct anything wrong, or have it deleted. There's no form and no ticket system; it's just an inbox. We'll respond within 30 days, usually much sooner.

Children

The animals are made for children, but the shop isn't. It's not directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect their information. If a child has sent us something, email us and we'll delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, payment never touches our servers, and the shop's admin area is locked to a single account protected by a password. No system is perfect, but there is very little here worth stealing.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted on the home page for a while.
